Best Image Comics: Week of March 13, 2024

We’ve got a big week in comic books ahead of us! Image Comics is putting out one of its most stacked weeks with titles from superstar creators like Daniel Warren Johnson, Joshua Williamson, Jeff Lemire, Skottie Young, and many more! To help narrow down which comics you should check out, I’ve selected some of the best comics you can expect to hit shelves this week! Whether you’re into sci-fi, horror, or a little bit of mystery, there’s a comic this week that’s perfect for you. There’s even a new series debut you’ll want to keep your eyes on. So, with that said, let’s get to my picks! 

Transformers #6

This comic is the big one for the week! The mega-hit Transformers series by Daniel Warren Johnson reaches its first story arc finale, and we couldn’t be more excited! This issue will be an all-out war between the Autobots and Decepticons. As the saying goes, “One shall stand, one will fall.” We will be absolutely glued to this massive release!

Fishflies #5

The strange tale of Jeff Lemire’s Fishflies unfolds more in this latest issue. While Franny and her monstrous companion take shelter in an aging farmhouse with two elderly siblings, Helen DuPuis makes an eerie discovery in the woods. Both Helen and Officer Laraque discover more links between the strange mysteries around town and the crime that left young Paul DuPuis in the hospital. Fishflies is another series by Jeff Lemire that shouldn’t be missed! 

I Hate Fairyland #12

This latest issue of I Hate Fairyland asks a simple question: What happens when three hungry goats cross a troll bridge and a bloodthirsty Gert is nearby? The only way to find the answer to that question is to tune into this hilariously violent series! 

Dark Ride #11

The devilish family drama in Joshua Williamson and Andrei Bressan’s Dark Ride takes on new twists and turns in this latest issue. While Sam fights through hell to save his daughter from a ghastly fate, Halloween confronts their father about the evil deal he made many years ago. 

The One Hand #2

The hunt for The One Hand Killer continues as detective Ari Nasser dives deeper into his final case. With patterns he thought to be long buried popping up all over Neo Novena, the detective stops at nothing to unravel the mystery that’s plagued him for so long. This series, alongside Dan Watters and Sumit Kumar’s The Six Fingers, is pure neo-noir goodness. It’s a must-read comic if you love chilling thrillers with a unique sci-fi twist.

Napalm Lullaby #1

New Rick Remender series alert! The prolific writer is back with artist Bengal for a new sci-fi series that blends high-octane action with brilliant sci-fi world-building. The comic is set in a futuristic world where a zealous cult controls society, and a band of rebels seek to disrupt the “natural” order of things by killing their god. It’s unique, stylish, and a series you do not want to miss!

Petrol Head #5

Lupa and Petrol Head reach the end of the Smogzone only to find that the way out is blocked! It’s a race against time as The O and the Robo-Cops are fast approaching their locations. With so much on the line, this will be one hectic story arc finale! But while the arc ends here, the fast-paced story is far from its finish line! 

Our Bones Dust #4

Mini-series finale time! Attis and the child connect with a thriving community, but their arrival is met with conflict from an old warrior.
