DC Comics May 2025 New Solicitations

While May is looking a bit light in the number of new releases, the list of comics is still a stacked one. Let’s take a look at the new comics debuting in May below: 

Mr. Terrific: Year One #1

Mr. Terrific himself is getting the Year One treatment to introduce readers to a new, unexplored origin of the hero. Discover all the secrets, sorrows, and triumphs of Mr. Terrific and how he came to be in this thrilling modern retelling and expansion of his origin story by multiple-award-winning writer Al Letson Valentine De Landro. It’s great to see DC expand the mythos of its lesser-known heroes with series like this. I think this series will be great to pick up knowing that Mr. Terrific is a character in the upcoming Superman movie.

Supergirl #1

This one looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun! Sophie Campbell is taking on both writing and art duties for a story that has Kara Zor-El flying solo. Supergirl returns to hometown only to find that someone has been mysteriously impersonating her for several weeks. With the DCEU gearing up for Kara’s eventual debut on the big screen, this comic is going to be great for hyping the beloved character even more.

Superman Unlimited #1

Dan Slott comes to DC to write for the Man of Steel himself! The summer of Superman will be in full swing come May with this new title that will explore Superman’s timeless role as Earth’s greatest protector. I love seeing fresh takes on Superman, so I’m excited to pick this one up as soon as it hits shelves.

Superman: Action Comics: Phantoms

You can never go wrong with a superhero comic book written by Mark Waid. Action Comics: Phantoms is the story of Superman willfully entering the Phantom Zone to investigate a deadly jailbreak. But of course, the Man of Steel is met with plenty of trouble when he comes face-to-face with the villain who caused the disturbance. Superman must unravel the true nature of the Phantom Zone before it claims its final inmate! Be sure to snag this one up if you want to know more about Superman’s most storied dimensions.
