As always, the trade paperback and hardcover section is the most stacked when it comes to indie publishers. Oni Press, particularly has a loaded lineup for February. Then of course there’s Fantagraphics and Drawn & Quarterly which always put out stellar works. If you’re looking for great books to add to your collection that break away from the norm of superhero comics, then indie publishers are always a great place to start.Â

While ongoing comics are not the biggest markets for smaller publishers, some do still offer great selections with a variety of titles. Publishers like Mad Cave Studios and Oni Press each have solid lineups of comics by plenty of established names in comics. Then rising publishers like Vault Comics will surprise you with their unique offerings of stories that you won’t find anywhere else. As much as publishers like Image Comics and BOOM! Studios lead the charge for creator-owned comics, you’ll be surprised by how many more great books there are to discover out there.
