Pak will be joined by artists Takeshi Miyazawa, Jethro Morales, and Creees Lee to bring these fun-loving stories to life and shed new light on the beloved character.

Fantastic Four Fanfare #1

So get ready to enjoy a wide spear of fun tales that give a closer look into the Fantastic Four! Just in time for their highly-anticipated MCU movie later this year!

Giant-Size X-Men #1

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the legendary original issue. Marvel is bringing back Giant-Size X-Men through a series of five action-packed one-shots. From the creative team of Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Adam Kubert, this first story has Kamala Khan traveling back in time to witness the birth of the Uncanny X-Men and connect with her roots as a mutant. This comic looks like it will be a great mix of modern and nostalgic storytelling for all X-Fans out there to enjoy.

Godzilla vs. X-Men #1

Well, this is a mash-up I never would have expected. Marvel’s mutants go head-to-head against Godzilla after a robotics firm enrages the legendary kaiju. Of course, it’s up to the X-Men to stop him before he causes total destruction worldwide. Fun concepts like this are why I love comics so much. There’s always space for fun ideas to come to life, especially if it means bringing together iconic characters onto a single page. This is definitely one to look out for if you love the X-Men or Godzilla.

Gwenpool #1

By Cavan Scott, Stefano Nesi, and Matt Milla

So, this one is a bit odd the judge by. Gwenpool is back, but it’s actually Gwen Stacy this time and she’s suddenly got a mean streak to her. But based on the solicitation, there could be some reality-bending twists on the way to throw readers for a loop. That is just how it is with comics sometimes, the strangest ideas could have the potential for something great. Also, Jeff the Land Shark is in this so that’s definitely something to be excited about!

Hulk & Doctor Strange #1

Two of the original Defenders are back together for a story that will explore the tortured psyche of Bruce Banner. That means Doctor Strange himself is going to have to travel deep into Bruce’s mind and examine his origins as the Incredible Hulk. This is looking like another throwback story that will be great for more modern readers to jump into.

It's Jeff: Jeff Week #1

It’s Jeff! Everyone’s favorite menace in Marvel Rivals is finally getting printed comics. This issue collects Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru's original Jeff Infinity comic, plus five short stories from Gustavo Duarte's Jeff Week! It’s great seeing Jeff’s popularity soar in recent months thanks to Rivals, and this comic will be great for anyone looking to know more about the lovable little guy.

Marvel & Disney: What If...? Donald Duck Became Iron Man #1

Here comes another oddball what-if story that strangely works on a lot of levels. Taking inspiration from Iron Man’s origins in Tales of Suspense, Donald is forced by the Beagle Boys to build a machine that can break into Uncle Scrooge’s Money Bin. Of course, Donald has other plans and builds the ultimate suit of armor. That makes sense, right? I love these what-if stories because you never know what hoops are needed to jump through to make such outlandish stories possible.

Predator: Black, White & Blood #1

The Black, White, and Blood anthology series is back! This time putting a spotlight on the deadly Predator from Marvel's 20th Century Fox line. Joe Kelly and Álvaro López are set to put a spin on the iconic monster with a hunt deep in the Australian frontier. Together with stories from superstar creators Eliot Rahal and Sarah Gailey, this anthology is a must-read for all Predator fans!

Spider-Man & Wolverine #1

Gotta love team-up books, especially when it involves two of Marvel’s most popular characters. It looks like they’re going for a very street-level story, with a mysterious villain targeting the two heroes. Of course, you can expect their vastly different personalities to clash in this action-packed story through the city. While there’s still very little to go by for this one, I’m still a sucker for collab stories like this to make the characters feel fresh.

Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse #1

The arachnid war starts here! The fates of both the Spider-Verse and Venomverse hang in the balance as both sides fight to protect the hearts of their universe. With Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom writing for this, expect the level of quality you see from Radiant Black and the Massiveverse. It will be interesting to see how they put their unique spin on the expansive cast of Spider characters at their disposal.

Star Wars #1

Get ready for a new epic journey across the Star Wars universe! Created by New York Times best-selling author Alex Segura and fan-favorite artist Phil Noto, this upcoming is set in the wake of Return of the Jedi. While Luke Skywalker defends the New Republic against mercenaries, Han Solo investigates a mystery within the underworld. Meanwhile, Leia grapples with political alliances within the New Republic. Personally, I can’t get enough of Star Wars, and this one sounds like it’s bringing things back to what made many of us fall in love with the franchise.

The Thing #1

Here’s The Thing! Now, with obvious jokes aside, I’m hyped to see the Ever-Lovin’ Blue-Eyed Thing get a solo comic this year, especially with all the buzz surrounding the upcoming movie. This comic will delve into Ben Grimm’s past, taking him back to his roots as a scrappy kid who grew up on Yancy Street. So clock in for Clobberin’ Time as The Thing sets out on an action-packed solo adventure across New York City!

The Vision & The Scarlet Witch #1

Vision and Scarlet Witch are finally back together! But under dangerous circumstances. Steve Orlando is back writing more stories about Wanda, this time reuniting her lost love with The Vision. It will be interesting to see how this revived pairing plays out, especially knowing that Vision is back to his white state as well, making him the more emotionless version of himself. But whatever happens, it’s a nice touch for this series to debut on the 50th anniversary of the iconic couple’s wedding.

Venom: Original Sin #1

With Venom as the King in Black, this new series follows him using his near-limitless powers to go back in time when the symbiote first made contact with Peter Parker. But while he intends to “fix” such a terrible moment in history, it sends ripples that could tear the fabric of time and space. Sounds about what you’d expect from a time-traveling story. This is a new era for Eddie Brock that will see him go in bold new directions.

Trade Paperbacks and Hardcovers 

May is looking stacked with newly collected edition releases. Among all these series that are getting collected for the first time, the ones I’m mostly looking forward to are the new Psylocke and Sentinels books. As a massive X-Men fan, I’ve been enjoying the direction Marvel has been going with this new “From the Ashes” era following the fall of Krakoa. These two series really show how they’re willing to get creative and explore new stories as the mutants move on to something different after such a hot run. 

Another trade paperback worth checking out is Jed MacKay’s Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu series. MacKay has been Mr. Moon Knight for some time now, as he’s really been the driving force in fleshing out the more fascinating aspects of the character. With so much love for Moon Knight on the rise because of his popularity in Marvel Rivals, this one should be a fun pick-up.
