Spider-Man (Marvel Rivals)

Marvel Rivals is packed with powerful icons from the Marvel Universe, but few are as beloved, agile, or quick-witted as Spider-Man. Whether he’s swinging through skyscrapers, stopping a runaway train, or cracking jokes mid-fight, Peter Parker is the heart of Marvel.

As a hero defined by responsibility and resilience, Spider-Man brings a fast-paced, high-mobility combat style to Marvel Rivals. With his web-slinging traversal, crowd control tools, and hit-and-run melee attacks, he’s perfect for players who love speed, creativity, and outmaneuvering opponents.

Who Is Spider-Man?

Spider-Man first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962), created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. He is the alter ego of Peter Parker, a high school science prodigy from Queens who was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained incredible powers.

After the tragic death of his Uncle Ben—caused by Peter’s own inaction—he learned the life-defining lesson: “With great power comes great responsibility.” Since then, he’s fought to protect New York City from threats big and small, becoming one of the most iconic superheroes of all time.

Strengths & Weaknesses in Marvel Rivals

  • Strengths:
    • Exceptional mobility – three web-swing charges, wall-running and double-jumps let him zip around the map
    • High burst damage – his combos (Spider-Power + Amazing Combo) deal massive damage, especially on tracer-tagged foes
    • Good crowd control – web pulls and AoE ult (Spectacular Spin) can stun and isolate targets, perfect for flanking supports or ranged enemies
  • Weaknesses:
    • Very fragile – only 250 HP with no self-heal, so he dies quickly if caught out
    • Combo-reliant – damage falls off without Spider-Tracers; his Get Over Here! can be interrupted or fail if enemies hide
    • High skill floor – mastering animation cancels and positioning is hard; vulnerable to crowd-control and predictable if overused

Spider-Man’s Powers and Abilities in Marvel Rivals

Primary: Spider-Power

Input: LMB (Melee)

Damage/Healing: 25/25/40 (Combo)

Cooldown/Charges: ~ (Melee Attack)

Special Notes: 3-hit combo (2 punches + kick); + extra damage on Spider-Tracer target

🔥 TIPS:

  • Use its 3-hit combo to finish off airborne foes from Amazing Combo.
  • The third hit deals extra damage (especially to a traced target).
  • Cancel the last hit with a Web-Swing or jump to maintain momentum if needed.

Secondary: Cyber-Web Cluster

Input: RMB (Projectile)

Damage/Healing: 30 (+45 if tracer consumed)

Cooldown/Charges: 5 Ammo

Special Notes: Fires a web that applies Spider-Tracer to enemies🔥 TIPS:

  • Always try to tag priority targets with this tracer before diving in.
  • It has 5 ammo – don’t waste shots.
  • Fire on fleeing enemies or to start combos.

Ultimate: Spectacular Spin

Input: Q (AoE)

Damage/Healing: 12 per hit

Cooldown/Charges: 2.4s duration; 2800 energy

Special Notes: Multi-hit Web barrage: applies -3% slow per hit, stunning after ~20 hits. Grants Spider-Man 250 bonus HP shield while active

🔥 TIPS:

  • Use in close combat to hit many targets; aim for 20+ hits to stun targets.
  • Its bonus HP shield can let you tank a little damage during activation – pop it when you’re ready to dive a fight.

Web-Swing

Input: SHIFT

Damage/Healing: -

Cooldown/Charges: 3 Charges (6s each)

Special Notes: Shoot a web to swing. Ranges up to 30. Can bunny-hop by canceling swing with a jump for extra distance

🔥 TIPS:

  • Use swings to flank or escape. Chain swings and bunnyhop (shoot + jump) to traverse maps rapidly.
  • Always keep at least one charge in reserve for emergencies.
  • Combine swings with wall-running for unpredictable angles

Get Over Here!

Input: E

Damage/Healing: 25 (pull) / 50 (slam)

Cooldown/Charges: 8s

Special Notes: Fires a web to reel in enemies or pull Spider-Man to marked targets. If enemy has Spider-Tracer, Spider-Man dashes to them instead.

🔥 TIPS:

  • Decide use based on tracer: if no tracer, it yanks enemies to you – great for pulling defenders off objectives.
  • If target is tagged, you zip to them – perfect for closing gaps or chasing down escapes.
  • Save it to interrupt enemy ultimates or disengage.

Amazing Combo

Input: F

Damage/Healing: 55

Cooldown/Charges: 2 Charges (2s each)

Special Notes: Upward uppercut launcher. Deals extra damage to Spider-Tracer targets. Leaves enemies airborne for follow-ups.

🔥 TIPS:

  • Use after landing a tracer to maximize damage. Launching an enemy lets you melee while they’re airborne.
  • After using Amazing Combo, follow up immediately with primary strikes or Web-Swing retreat.
  • It’s your main reset tool – it can knock targets out of cover to finish them

Spider-Man's Combos & Tech in Marvel Rivals

Basic Combo

This full combo (tracer→pull→airkick→finish) quickly executes isolated squishies. Tip: ensure the Web Cluster hits first to maximize damage on the uppercut. Use basic attacks to finish off any leftover HP.

Web Cluster → Get Over Here! → Amazing Combo → Primary Attacks → Cyber-Web Cluster

(PC) RMB → E → F → LMB ×3 → RMB

(Xbox) LT → RB → B → RT ×3 → LT

(Playstation) L2 → R1 → O (Circle) → R2 ×3 → L2

Venom Team-Up Combo

With Venom, the combo ends in Suit Expulsion (AoE knockback) for a devastating finish. Coordinate with a Venom ally: pop tracer, combo, and then Venom ult to punish clustered foes.

Web Cluster → Get Over Here! → Amazing Combo → Suit Expulsion

(PC) RMB → E → F → C

(Xbox) LT → RB → B → Y

(Playstation) L2 → R1 → O (Circle) → △ (Triangle)

Escape Combo

Use Amazing Combo to launch yourself upward and away, then Web-Swing + bunnyhop repeatedly to rocket to safety. Tip: initiate this if you’ve drawn aggro and need to flee; practicing double web-swing cancels maximizes distance.

Amazing Combo → Web-Swing → (B-hop Web-Swing)

(PC) F → L‑Shift → Space

(Xbox) B → LB → X

(Playstation) O → L1 → □ (Square) |

Ultimate Setup

Swing into a high perch, tag a target with tracer, grapple onto them, then immediately pop your ultimate. This is great for diving crowded objectives with team support.

(Xbox) LB → LT → RB → LS + RS

(Playstation) L1 → L2 → R1 → L3 + R3

Spider-Man's Match-Ups & Counters in Marvel Rivals

Strongest Against:

Use Web Cluster and Amazing Combo to burst down isolated targets (squishy backliners or distracted ranged foes)

  • Backline supports (e.g. Gamora, Korg)
  • Ranged duelists (Hawkeye, Winter Soldier)
  • Airborne heroes (Storm, Iron Man)

Synergizes With:

  • Venom (Symbiote Bond team-up)
  • Squirrel Girl (Web Bomb synergy)
  • Luna Snow (healer support)

Weakest Against:Watch out: Iron Fist and Peni can follow you easily and lock you down. Against heavy CC or healing (Punisher, Wolverine), be extra cautious – avoid prolonged fights. In team fights, ping retreat if your movement cooldowns are down, as you’re most vulnerable then

  • Iron Fist (can chase him)
  • Peni Parker (mines/CC zones)
  • Punisher (burst shotgun at close range)

Spider-Man's Match-Ups & Counters in Marvel Rivals

Ideal Maps for Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals

  • Multi-level, open maps suit Spider-Man.
  • Tokyo 2099 – Spider-Islands and Yggdrasill (Asgard) offer plenty of walls and high ground for swinging and flanking.
  • On Spider-Islands, swing along the left wall to quickly reach the enemy convoy’s rear (diagram placeholder).
  • Midtown (Empire of Eternal Night) also has vertical structures to exploit.
  • ⚠️ Tight objective maps (like Krakoa Domination) are less favorable; play more cautiously around cover there.

Positioning & Routes

  • Always seek high ground.
  • Flank from unexpected angles via webswing or wall-run.
  • In escort/convoy modes, approach from bushes or roofs rather than face-tanking defenders.
  • After diving, use Web-Swing back to safety. Diagram: (Placeholder for a flanking route on Spider-Islands.)

Team Strategy

  • In dive comps, coordinate engages: have another diver (Venom, Black Panther, Wolverine) jump in as you initiate combos
  • In siege comps, rely on Spider-Man to pick off healers or shielded opponents.
  • Always communicate tracer targets to your team.
  • If your healers are on point, you can be extremely aggressive; otherwise, pick moments when supports have CC ready before committing.

Objective Play

  • Use Get Over Here! to disrupt enemy captures – e.g. yank defenders off payloads or control points.
  • If two Spidey’s exist (synergy with Squirrel Girl), one can web-swing in while the other baits with tracer Web Clusters, surprising enemies from above.

Spider-Man’s Story in Marvel Rivals

After being bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter Parker became the Amazing Spider-Man—a hero driven by responsibility and his desire to protect the innocent. Now, in a world fractured by the Timestream Entanglement, Spider-Man finds himself defending two fronts: New York City, now plunged into eternal night under Dracula’s rule, and Tokyo Webworld, where he’s been called upon by the Web-Warriors to protect the mystical Web of Life and Destiny. Though tempted to join them, Peter chooses to remain in his darkened home city, believing it’s where he’s needed most.

But darkness closes in fast. While patrolling New York alongside the Human Torch, Peter encounters the legendary vampire hunter Blade, who's finally returned after weeks of radio silence. The trio fight side by side against hordes of vampires, only to come face-to-fang with Dracula himself. Despite a fierce battle, Dracula overpowers them, dragging Blade away into the shadows. Peter is left broken, barely breathing, haunted by a single thought: maybe he should have taken the portal—because now, even Spider-Man isn’t sure how to stop the night.

A Hero Defined by Struggle

Peter’s life is one of balance—juggling school, jobs, relationships, and heroism, all while living with the weight of his mistakes. Whether battling supervillains or trying to make rent, Spider-Man is a symbol of resilience, empathy, and perseverance.

He’s fought alongside the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and countless other heroes, but always returns to the streets of New York, where his story began.

A Rogues’ Gallery Like No Other

Spider-Man faces one of the most colorful and dangerous lineups of villains in comics, including:

  • Green Goblin – His deadliest enemy and a personal tragedy.
  • Doctor Octopus – A scientific rival turned supervillain.
  • Venom – A twisted reflection of Peter’s legacy.
  • Sandman, Electro, Lizard, Kraven, and Mysterio are just a few of the many foes who test both his strength and morals.

Essential Spider-Man Comics

Spider-Man is more than a superhero—he’s an icon of perseverance, hope, and heart. In Marvel Rivals, he brings a fluid, fast-paced playstyle that rewards smart movement, quick reflexes, and creative tactics.

Whether he’s web-zipping through combat, disabling key targets, or pulling off clutch saves, Peter Parker proves that true heroism doesn’t come from powers—it comes from the choices we make every day.
