Napalm Lullaby #6 delivers an explosive finale to its first story arc, packed with over-the-top action and dramatic character moments that will blow you away.

After its hot start of a debut issue, Rick Remender and Bengal's Napalm Lullaby has shaped up to be one of Image Comics' most promising new sci-fi series. Everything from its fascinating dystopian world to the stylish character designs and gripping story, the comic is packed with elements I love from top to bottom. And with issue #6, the series kicks things into overdrive with an action-packed finale that will blow your mind. Keeping up with how each issue progressively escalates the story’s scope, this finale satisfyingly delivers the comic’s biggest release yet.

With that said, let’s get to my review of Napalm Lullaby #6!

Overview of Napalm Lullaby #6

The fight between Sarah and The Janitor reaches its peak. With the two superpowered girls going all out, Dome City gets torn apart in their path. Meanwhile, Sam juggles with what to do about having the Magnificent Leader in his getaway truck. Will he do what's right or enact the revenge he's dreamed of all his life? But with Sarah and Janitor's fight reaching cataclysmic levels, nothing might be left in the city after they are done.

Review

This issue is one hell of a great way to end Napalm Lullaby's first story arc. It's action-packed, dramatic, and incredibly over-the-top. The fight between Sarah and The Janitor in Dome City feels like something straight out of Dragonball Z, and I loved every second of it. But amidst all the chaos, there is still a great deal of storytelling that drives the comic's intricate tale forward. Rick Remender balances the explosive action with crucial character moments that change how the story will grow from here. Seeing Sam's internal struggle over the fate of the Magnificent Leader adds a layer of moral complexity that makes the story’s stakes feel even bigger. Does he choose vengeance or the greater good when the world is literally falling apart? The many character beats like that are what give Napalm Lullaby its emotional weight beyond the flashy fights.

But with that said about how over-the-top the action is, Bengal delivers some of his best work on this issue. With each panel cracking with kinetic energy, there’s a stylishness to the carnage that keeps you glued on every chaotic moment. The final stretch of pages has some of the most jaw-dropping events of the series, showcasing Bengal's ability to render both epic destruction and intimate character moments with equal skill. I was completely blown away by how this issue ended, and I’m excited to see where the comic goes from here.

The crazy thing about this finale is that it blows the door open for the story to get even crazier from here. Since getting to know more about the characters and world of Napalm Lullaby, the comic has developed into something much bigger than I expected. Napalm Lullaby #6 finally gives a great look into Sarah’s strange powers, and it's a real sight to behold. While the mechanics of the power systems are still a bit unclear to me, it’s incredible to see the comic go to such extreme lengths to tell a dramatic and engaging story. There’s so much more to discover about this world and its characters, and I couldn’t be more pumped to see what comes next for this series.

Final Thoughts

With a story fueled by rebellious and angsty energy, Napalm Lullaby has solidified itself as a signature Rick Remender comic book. It's character-driven, dramatic, and constantly surprising with each new development. This first arc has laid a strong foundation for what promises to be an epic sci-fi saga that’s still only just scratching the surface of how spectacular it can be. If you've been sleeping on Napalm Lullaby, now is the perfect time to catch up. With its perfect blend of high-octane action and emotionally resonant storytelling, this blazing-hot series is easily among Image Comics' must-read titles right now.
