Best Indie Comics: Week of July 3, 2024

What better way to kick off the second half of 2024 than by checking some new comics coming out? As always, indie publishers like Image, Dark Horse, Vault, and more are all killing it with releases, and you don’t want to miss out. I’ve learned that the beauty of indie comics is that there’s always something unique to find, regardless of which publisher they come from. Comic creators truly have a knack for coming up with such inventive stories that I’m still always surprised to discover plenty of books that catch my attention. So, with that, let’s get to my picks of the best comics out this week! 

Best Image Comics of the Week

Scarlett #2

By Kelly Thompson, Marco Ferrari, and Lee Loughridge

Scarlett goes undercover within the Arashikage Clan hoping to learn their secrets and figure out how to get her long-lost friend Jinx out of there. However, Hard Master and Storm Shadow have plans for the spy. Scarlett must prove she’s willing to put her life on the line to get the job done. You don’t want to miss the latest chapter in the thrilling Energon Universe saga! 

Public Domain #6

Chip Zdarksy’s hit, Eisner Award-winning series Public Domain is back! With Dallas Comics finally up and running, Syd has a lot on his plate. Not only must he start running the family business, but he also has the duty of creating a run of Domain comics for a new generation of readers to enjoy. That is if he doesn’t get beaten out by Jerry Jasper and his store, Singular Comics, first.

Amidst that fated battle is when the Bear reveals its true purpose within the mystery. This comic has been quite the story to follow, and I’m eager to see how all the pieces fit together.

All The Things We Didn't Do Last Night #1

Creator Maria Llovet returns to Image Comics with a special one-shot about two criminals becoming lovers. Before you know it, this fun and provocative comic will easily snatch your heart!
